Meryl Phair would do anything for a good story like sleeping with wolves or counting every bird in Central Park (sort of). When she’s not running around New York City in search of local environmental stories for Straus News Manhattan, she’s covering machine learning research as a Science Writer for the NYU Center for Data Science and reading up on public health catastrophes as Editor in Chief of the NYU GPH Journal of Public Health Disasters. She is also likely to be found writing Field Notes, her biweekly newsletter on Substack about how the climate crisis is shaping everything in our world from wilderness to witches. A recent graduate from NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute with a masters in Magazine & Digital Storytelling, Meryl is actively pursuing a career in environmental journalism so she can write about what she loves most: solutions to the climate crisis.
